Dog Park Improvement Project
The Cañon City Area Recreation and Park District has received grant funding to improve the Arkansas Riverwalk Dog Park. This includes adding a small dog park, widening the walking track, improving signage, adding benches and tables, replacing the agility equipment, and adding other dog park equipment.
In January the Recreation District parks staff began installing the small dog park, walking track expansion, and new signage. The week of March 3rd, A to Z Recreation installed the agility equipment and some additional signage. Boulders were also added for the dogs to climb on.
Specific installation dates will be announced on this page. There might be some periodic closures of the dog park during this process, but our goal is to minimize that disruption. Any closure will be for safety reasons of our four legged friends.
District crews have packed the crusher fine trail in the large dog park. There is a chance we will add some additional crusher fines in the wetter areas over the coming weeks.
The project is nearly complete! Check out photos of the project below.
