Rouse Park
Rouse Park was the first park owned and operated by the Recreation District. Over the years it has been developed to include fields, pickleball courts, a basketball court, pavilions, and a playground area. The baseball and softball fields are used 9 to 10 months of the year by Recreation programs, Canon City High School, and area traveling teams. This facility hosts several baseball and softball tournaments. The west end of the facility is used for football and soccer practices and games. The two pavilions near the playground host parties, weddings, and other functions throughout the year.
This is one of the most used parks by the Recreation District and the community as a whole. In 2014 the District completed the reconstruction of the basketball court. In 2016 the District renovated the old tennis courts into pickleball courts. In 2020, the District received a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado to replace the playground equipment in the southwest corner of the park. In 2022 and 2023 a major improvement project was completed to improve the lighting and the ball fields at Rouse.
